September 11th

At Heart And In Mind.
Satori Dharma Hawai'i offers our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to who all who have suffered and are still suffering as a result of the terrible and inhumane attack launched against our great nation on September 11.

We pray for those lost. We pray for those alive who continue to serve our nation at home and abroad. We pray for peace, always.

And in our thoughts and hearts, we shall not forget anyone as our suffering, memorials, and prayers transcend time and space...ultimately to a final gathering point where all can embrace not as nations nor as clans but as a universal family.

Victims from Hawai'i are Christine Snyder, Maile Hale, Georgine Corrigan, Heather Ho, and Jude Larson (picture not available). Larson was a former Maui resident and passenger with his wife, Natalie, on American Airlines Flight 11.

The World Trade Center.
There are certainly more than enough images of the devastation and ruin of The World Trade Center in publications, newspapers, and online. SDH prefers to remember the WTC in its original state and in times of peace.
Helping Others.
In the months since the attacks, The September 11th Fund has granted million in cash and services for victims, the recovery effort at Ground Zero, and to rebuild communities devastated by the tragedy. Nearly 45,000 individuals received cash relief and services, including 3,800 families of those who were killed or were severely injured, 35,000 who lost their jobs and 6,000 who were displaced from their homes.
About the victims.
Included are victims for whom AP has confirmed the death with named local or federal government officials, the person's family, a named spokesman for the person's employer or a named funeral home official. In the case of confirmation by family members, victims are included when the family member is definitive that the person is dead or that the family considers the person dead.

Heather Ho, 9-11 Victim, New York, formerly Honolulu kamaaina
Heather Ho, 32, of New York, was an executive pastry chef at New York's Windows on the World restaurant on the 107th Floor of the World Trade Center. Ho, who was usually among the first to arrive at the north tower, has not been heard from since the terrorist attack. She was widely admired for taking a fresh and creative approach to traditional recipes and dreamed of one day owning her own pastry shop. She is survived by her father and mother, Stuart and Mary Ho, brother, Peter Ho, sister, Cecily Sargent, and grandmother, Betty Ho.

Christine Snyder, 9-11 Victim from Kailua, Hawai'i
Christine Snyder, 32, of Aikahi Park in Kailua, Hawaii, was an arborist who worked for Outdoor Circle, a forestry organization.
Georgine Rose Corrigan, 9-11 Victim from Honolulu, Hawai'i
Georgine Rose Corrigan, 56, of Honolulu was a prominent antiques and collectibles dealer who had been on an East Coast buying trip for a collectibles show in November.
Prayers and Offerings.
Many Buddhists sects, groups believe that the first 49 days after death is a critical period for the departed person(s). Please feel free to join Satori Dharma Hawai'i in sending blessings and prayers to those who have died as a result of the senseless attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. 9/11/02-10/28/02 will be a special time for SDH as we remember the victims and families through prayer service, lighting of candles and burning of incense, and chanting. Anyone interested in making prayer offerings at our web site may email us their heartfelt prayers and thoughts. We will post all emails on our site and include them in our prayer circle.
